Another picture from my collection. It is probably late 19 th Century but could be early 2oth - any thoughts. I love the little hat and the large sleeves.
I got this picture at the St Lawrence Antique Market here in Toronto.
Do you long for the days when men were men and women were ladies? In those old days it seemed like everyone wore a hat. Oh! What heady days! In this blog I will discuss my nostalgia for hat wearing especially by women. The high point in my view was the 1930s. My goal will be to stimulate hat wearing by women - let's bring it back! Who says we cannot change fashion by creating our own movement? Show your personality ladies - put those hats on. Personally I wear a hat every day please join me!

I would date the photo around 1890's. The sleeve on the dress looks a lot like leg-o'-mutton sleeves that where popular during the 90's.
Congrats on your new picture!
Here is a picture of the leg-o'mutton sleeve online http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:1892_fashion_plate.jpg
Thanks to Sarahanne for identification of the "Mutton" sleeves. They look grea don't they?
Looks like we are dealing with a high hair style with a fancy comb and not a hat as such. I was having a blonde moment when I saw a hat.
