Google adds images from LIFE Magazine

Google recently announced that they have added images from Life Magazine to Google image search.

We're excited to announce the availability of never-before-seen images from the LIFE photo archive. This effort to bring offline images online was inspired by our mission to organize all the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. This collection of newly-digitized images includes photos and etchings produced and owned by LIFE dating all the way back to the 1750s.

Quite a small percentage of images are available as yet but the plan is to add more digitalized image over the next several months. Many of the images have not been published and they are very interesting. You can purchase the framed images for a very reasonable price. I am Canadian and the price is becoming less reasonable - we have been hit on our exchange rate.

I spent a few hours of R&R time searching for images that might be of interested to us hat aficionados.

Here are a few interesting ones

Sophisticated ladies in a Model T

John and Jackie at inauguration day Jackie is wearing her signature 60s pill box hat

Group of World War 1 women working on an engine

World War 1 sugar rationing cartoon

Mata Hari - the infamous exotic spy wearing a hat.

Unfortunately copyright concerns prevent my publishing thumbnails.

Enjoy!

By the way sorry for the reduction in posting lately I am working on an exciting new site for this blog at http://manyhattyreturns.com. Stay tuned for the start date announcement. You can go over now (pardon the mess) and sign up for the feed if you wish.
